YouTube Ads In HTML5 And The iPad – Things Are Going To Change

by Paul Colligan on July 11, 2010

I’ve been secretly enjoying the fact that nobody is putting ads atop HTML5 video. Maybe you haven’t noticed, but when you watch HTML5 video, you don’t get the overlays you traditionally get in flash video. Compare/contrast the iPad versions of YouTube or Revison3 with their desktop players for examples.

Well, we won’t get this break for long. HTML5 video is the future of video and you will see people quickly find some solutions and means to bring this to our iPads, iPhones, etc.

I write this flying back from VidCon 2010. The gleam in the YouTube rep’s eye when he said “yeah, we’re working on it” told more than he did about what they’re doing. You don’t think they spent all that money

Also, track the efforts over at mDialog to get an idea of where things are going and the need for it.

The numbers are too impressive and the potential too profitable to ignore.
