iPad 2 AirPlay Mirroring – Demo Video

by Paul Colligan on October 13, 2011

When iOS 5 was announced, one of the features we were most excited about was AirPlay Mirroring. With an AppleTV and an iPad 2 you could, wirelessly, mirror what you saw on the iPad screen to your HD set.

Sorry, no this doesn’t work on the iPad 1.

The implications of AirPlay mirroring for both business and entertainment are staggering. Imagine being able to present from your iPad 2 as remote while walking around during a presentation. And, of course if the iPad is so strong at streaming video, what happens when you can/do share that with the whole room?

Attached below is a video demo of iPad 2 AirPlay Mirroring. As an extra bonus you’ll see how you can use it to watch Internet TV on your Apple TV that some, simply, don’t want you to watch.

Thoughts on the whole process and implications? And, yes, it really is that simple and easy.

AirPlay Mirroring only works with iPad Version 2 (and the iPhone 4s we hear). Sorry.

Does Apple block any specific apps or will it mirror anyting the iPad 2 will display?? I’m specifically hoping to broadcast Hulu Plus from my iPad to Apple TV.

I think people can block if they want to but at this point, they’re not blocking Hulu Plus. That can, of course, change at any time.
