Paul’s Favorite iPad Accessories

  • iPad Camera Connection Kit.  Yes, the rumors are true. You can run the Blue Yeti Microphone and some other USB devices from it. Awesome.
  • Yeti Microphone – It’s my favorite USB microphone – on the iPad or anything else.  The fact that I can use it on my iPad makes it, as they say, “double plus good.”
  • Official Apple iPad Case. I know some people don’t like this and think the price is way too high. I happen to really appreciate how thin and unobtrusive it is.  Right now she’s at the top of my list – but I’m still looking.

Official iPad Accessories From Apple

  • iPad Keyboard Dock.  This is the product that actually makes it all possible for me.  A great as the on-screen keyboard is, I’ll need to be able to use a regular keyboard as I use the iPad to run my business.  Apple’s dock makes a lot of sense and I hope to purchase it the same day I get my iPad.
  • iPad Dock.  As described.  Don’t see myself using it.
  • iPad 10w USB Power Adapter.  I’ll certainly be buying this one.  Even with the 10 hours of battery life promised, I do see myself needing a charge on the run.

Yes, certainly buy a power adaptor that come with the iPad.

Hey Paul! Still waiting on you to review some accessories! I got a sweet case/bag for the ipad today from Ross for $10. It is meant for a netbook and they have several brands and styles but MUCH cheaper and really better than most ipad bags. This one has detachable strap for cross body carrying kind of like a computer bag!
Decided I don't like my Apple Black sleeve I purchased b.c of having to remove it every time I docked it, So now I use a gel case and screen protector.
Would love to hear what you like and dont like!
    Thanks!

Awesome report. Was that Ross as in “Ross Dress For Less?” I never thought of looking there for cases. And at those prices …

  • Lg2006

Yes ! That is the store. Both Ross and TJMAXX get left over apple accessories from Speck, Griffin etc so its a great place to find things at a much better price than the apple store!

  • paulcolligan

Interesting. Will have to take a look.

You say that you bought a Yeti Microphone.. Why? The iPad already has one built in!

  • paulcolligan

It has a small microphone built in – not a Yeti – it's a quality issue.

    Hi

I've got a iPad 2 and a Blue Yeti, but not the CCK because I read they not runs in the new iOS: It's true ?

    Thanks

Yeah. It is not necessary to have or buy iPad dock, you will not be really needing it anyway. And for the usb power adapter, having it from Apple is the best idea.

  • paulcolligan

    don't know on that one

Paul- Saw your YouTube spot on the IPAD and the Blue Yeti microphone, connected with USB camera connection kit. My wife has an iPad 16 gb from work, so I wanted to test it, as I have a Yeti mic (you’re right… wonderful quality) that I’ve been using with a noisy Toshiba laptop. I was very excited about using it with the iPad, as I’m trying to get away from computer fan noise. If it worked, I’d get my own iPad and be a happy camper. I got the kit and plugged the Yeti in and… I get the following error message: “The connected USB device requires too much power”. The remaining power was at 47%… Does the iPad need to be fully charged?

Do I need the 32 gb iPad?

I’m charging the iPad right now, but I’m a little disappointed, as I thought this would be an elegant and simple solution to my home recording issues.
